CLOTHING  MINISTRY

Eastside also maintains a Clothing House at 106 S. Cedar, directly behind the church building.

Donation Bins:

We have partnered with Arms of Hope  (AOH), a charity dedicated to providing hope and support in a nurturing Christian environment for disadvantaged children, youth and families.  Arms of Hope’s facilities include Medina Children’s Home, Boles Children’s Home and the Refuge Campus in central Texas, and various other outreach ministries.  Besides the original mission of caring for orphans, their mission has expanded to serve the needs of at-risk children and single mothers, many of whom are survivors of domestic violence or sex trafficking. The organization maintains a Christian and holistic approach of keeping families together by providing case management, counseling and education, and residential child care for those in need.   

AOH has provided us with donation bins so that we can collect clothing donations from our community.  These collection boxes are placed in front of the Clothing House to provide easy access for Kermit resident wishing to donate unwanted clothing.  Our dedicated team of volunteers empty the collection boxes regularly, going through the donations and making room for more.  They first stock our Clothing House, so that we can serve our local community.  Then, they package up the surplus clothing.  Arms of Hope comes to Kermit monthly to collect these donations.   They use all that they can, and then have an outlet where they can sell the remainder for cash to further aid their missions.

Local Clothing Distribution:

Once per week on Mondays from 12:00-1:00 pm , the Eastside's Clothing House is open to serve those in need in our community. No pre-registration is needed--just show up.   Special distributions can be arranged in times of crisis by contacting the church office.

SPECIAL NOTICE:  

PLEASE STAY OUT OF THE COLLECTION BOXES.  THEY ARE NOT DESIGNED FOR ENTRY, AND CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS.  Although we have been blessed so far that it hasn't happened in Kermit, people have been injured and even DIED accessing these boxes in other locations.
